though the religious right doesn't want kids to know about it.

Which "religious right" organization doesn't want kids to know about "birth control"? Answer: There isn't one.

What the religious right and other conservatives want is for idiot organizations like Planned Parenthood not to be cramming it down kids throats that they should rush out and start screwing at the earliest possible time. And that is precisely what PP tries to do.

There is ample anecdotal evidence today that serious efforts to teach abstinence work to warrant continued efforts. It is problematic to have teachers who don't believe what they're teaching; but when done properly, abstinence education appears to have merit.

I don't intend to be prudish about it; when I was 16 I was after all I could get (and that wasn't enough). But that was "summer of love" and all that crap. Today, there are signs that children can "learn" that sexual activity has consequences (in spite of Clinton's broad, 8-year declaration to the contrary) and must come with responsibility.
