QCOM may have a better mousetrap, but if people already have a mousetrap that is adequate, then I don't think they will want to spend a lot more money to get new ones just so they can send pictures in emails over the phone.

Most people who are supposed to buy 3G phones already have internet access at home and in the office. To have it on the phone as well would be cool, but what is the marginal utility compared to the marginal cost?

I think widespread 3G is a dream, at least in the next 3 - 5 years. Further ahead than that is anyone's guess.
