Well, as you can see I actually enjoy a bit of bandying about. So now Gil has stepped down for about 6 million. Not bad for not accomplishing much. I never had a real warm feeling about that appointment. The dirty little secret that I've always known is that one of Amelio's prime appointments at Apple was Ellen Hancock. While at IBM she was the one that was in charge of the Rolm/IBM deal. Remember that one? Well, I happened to have been working for Rolm at the time and I can tell you no acquisition has ever been botched worse than that one. It's no surprise that by the time they finally divested it to Siemens, IBM had hit the skids. Didn't take long from the time Akers, Hancock and a few more were sent out before IBM began it's rise from the ashes. I don't think it was a coincidence. Just thought I might throw that out there as food for thought. I don't know if it is going to make any difference for Apple now but I am always suspicious whenever I hear the name Hancock thrown in the mix.
