InfoSpace Powers Mobile Shopping on mMode BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 2002--
InfoSpace, Inc. (Nasdaq:INSP - news), a provider of wireless and Internet software and application services, today announced the company has expanded its relationship with AT&T Wireless (NYSE:AWE - news), adding mobile shopping to the existing services InfoSpace powers on AT&T Wireless' recently announced mMode(SM) wireless data offering.
The new services enable mMode subscribers to check prices and availability for millions of products offered by over 50 merchants and to make purchases, all from the convenience of their mobile handset or Internet-enabled personal digital assistant (PDA). Users can compare items from multiple merchants, add them to a single shopping cart and purchase all products at once by pressing just a few keys on their mobile device.
Today's announcement marks the latest development in the relationship between AT&T Wireless and InfoSpace, one that began soon after the initial launch of AT&T Wireless' mobile data services in 1996. Since then, InfoSpace has continued to work with AT&T Wireless, to develop and advance its mobile data services offering from personalized information to productivity applications to commerce services that now include shopping.
``AT&T Wireless is pleased that InfoSpace shopping services are a part of our broadening portfolio of mMode destinations,'' said Andy Willett, vice president of consumer data offers at AT&T Wireless. ``Thanks to InfoSpace's innovative mobile shopping solution, our customers can access compelling new shopping services while on the go.''
``Our mission is to continue supporting our partners to ensure that they can offer the most advanced mobile information services to their customers while developing the new revenue streams that will maximize their investments in next generation wireless data technologies,'' said Jan Claesson, InfoSpace executive vice president of wireless. |
