...XAU 72ish right here/right now; is similar to OSX 72ish in the early spring of 1999 as the OSX came off it's quadruple 45-48ish bottom and began to turn - finally putting in an accepted bottom.
The public noticed the OSX turn...
They noted and accepted that the BOTTOM was in...
But, just as they are not rotating money to the Gold Sector... they didn't @ OSX 72 either.
They yawned... nothing more, nothing less.
Xau 45-72 "now" and OSX 45-72 "then" - represent just the initial stages of a cyclical turn... the early contrarians are the only ones who reaped the benefit here.
The next 20-30 index points will come imho; with an explosive move... in a 4-6 week period ... just as the OSX exploded up 50% in less than 25 trading days on its turn as well.
[ and that's why you can't get too cute trading in & out imho]
THAT move will bring in the mo-mo players and also obviously lead to massive short covering.
Will it be "event" driven, or will it be money, following money in an Institutional Sector Rotation move; as Money Mgr's finally accept the undeniable underlying fundamentals for the sector and the commodity ?
...who knows & it matters little imho; as both are likely and its merely a matter of which becomes the next catalyst.
But, what Gold has that the OSX didn't - is a huge, if not unprecedented short/derivative position underlying the commodity.
THAT makes THIS one different... and THAT Derivative-catalyst is what makes picking a parabolic-blow off top so daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn interesting !
One might continue to take trading profits on the front-runners here & rotate to laggards & small/micro-caps; or add back into technical pullbacks... but, imho.... THIS is the seminal shift and cyclical move for physical assets that we will be telling our grandchildren about 20 years from now.
HOLD 'EM for the BIG MOVE... and it's coming...pyramid those profits into leaps, calls, or some micro-exposure...but, stay & stay exposed and stay in the PM Sector... this one is just beginning imho folks.
This is unquestionably the initial stage of a seminal shift from paper to physical assets.
The consumer has allready begun to do this via the "nesting" move into investing in the Home & Real Estate...ie: the move in the Home Builders, Lowes, Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Electronics Retailers et al...
