A recent post (don't remember whose) cited a survey that found that 42% of Americans felt that homosexuality should be illegal. That seems quite reasonably close to "irrational and illogical" status, and I would have no problem at all with qualifying that as a homophobic position. What conceivable logic or rationality can there be in calling for the Government to outlaw private behaviour that affects only the individuals concerned? Is it rational or logical to demand that behaviour that compromises nobody's rights be outlawed?

It seems that there really are a lot of homophobes out there. I wonder how many of them would also claim that they are opposed to "big Government"....
