Hamas seems to control Palestine now. What Palestinian authority? When they had the power to do something they did nothing and now that they are battered they CAN do nothing. The fact is they WON'T do anything. I used to trust Arafat and think he was sincere but the proof is in actions not words. Allowing 70 terrorist bombings while the Israelis were doing nothing to hurt them was an enormous crime. They deserved and asked for every bit of the punishment they just got. I only hope they killed as man "martyrs" and cold-blooded Hamas murderers as possible. for the good of the palestinians too. Those terrorists are Palestine's real enemy. I know you don't want to see this because you hate Israel but as an impartial observer who used to sympathize with Arafat I am completely turned off, especially by the Passover Massacre during the Arab League talks. That was as low as it gets. And stupid too. They were ASKING to be invaded. Please invade us and search every home for bombs and terrorists. Please come in and use your overwhelming firepower on our snipers, rock-throwers, slums and booby-traps. Some common sense. When you're a mouse you don't bite the cat. Especially when the cat is willing to leave you alone if you just leave him alone. Have we heard one Arab leader condemn terrorism without condeming Israel in the same sentence? No. Have we heard one leading cleric condemn Osama Bin Lauden? No. Even the Saudi prince offering 10 million to New York had to bash Israel in the same sentence when his people blew up the WTC. Arabs and Islamics have to wake up and realize this is the 21st century. Israel is there to stay and have just as much right to be there as anyone else. Also they have worked hard to build a functional society. The palestinians have scared off economic development, educated their kids in terrorism and israel hating and the rich Arabs have hardly helped them at all. Basically this entire race of people has big problems organizing themselves into anything but terrorist brigades. Yet they always blame their problems on the US and Israel. I have read Osama Bin lauden's speeches. He sounds intelligent at first then he just starts lying and lying and lying. Until you realize he's completely insane. And this same insanity is spreading throughout the Arab world fueled by Israel-hating. And then US-hating. As if we do anything but work hard to try and make peace. Look how hard Cklinton tried only to run into Hamas bombings. I have heard the entire Islamic press are terrorist sympathizers and insane lying Israel and US bashers. Arafat's own wife called terrorists heros. Arafat was clearly at least partly responsible for the terrorism. He arrested some of them but then let them all go again. And palestinians cheered the murders just like they cheered 9/11. What do you expect Israel to do in that situation? They'd be stupid not to defend themselves, and they know how. In fact the US could learn some lessons from Israel. I don't know why we're even telling Israel to pull back except maybe we're afraid to piss off the Saudis. Which leads to a root cause. The sooner the US gets off oil the better. What would Arabs be without oil sales? Nothing seems to have changed since "Lawrence Of Arabia". They don't even know HOW to make peace. Even amongst themselves. Can you believe Saddam making friends with the Saudis are he was about to invade them? Just an utty nutty sad situation. Very frustrating. used to blame Israel but not anymore. Just self-defence.
