I just put in a request for Prodigal Summer at my library... after all, I can't pass up reading a novel in which I play such a choice role. (o:
But no, I don't normally read that much fiction...or, I should say that I don't read many novels anymore. It's not that I don't like them, but I spent so much time dissecting literature while at university, that a lot of the true joy of reading fiction seems to escape me now. However, I do continue to enjoy poetry and short stories, essays, etc... I also like books that fall into the genre of "nature writing" such as Bernd Heinrich's A Year in the Maine Woods, or One Man's Owl.
Yesterday I was back checking on the progress of the Wood Frogs in the little stream that runs across the farm. Last week, I photographed the frogs breeding in the stream. Last night, I was able to find a large cluster of eggs with tiny tadpoles inside of them. At this point, they aren't really moving around, but in a few more days, they will be quite fun to watch as they wiggle around in their translucent capsules.
Gotta love this stuff! (o: |
