So Clinton got to wade in the shallow end, while Bush got tossed into rough waters, and you think Clinton did a better job?

Clinton came very close to as near a solution to the Palestinian problem as any president before him. He took a very active role in the problem. Now Bush would tell you that he failed but he, on the other hand, has practically abdicated any role in Palestine. Of course he can't "fail" without trying. It has taken nearly a year and all out violence for Bush to send his secretary of state on what has become a near impossible mission. Don't confuse clear cut resolute military action in Afghanistan with finesse and diplomacy, which are qualities Bush does not posess. There has never been so much animosity between the west and the Arab world as a result of Bush's inability and unwillingness to mediate. If there is history in the world on this it tells us that violence is a short term solution to problems. In the long term, only compromise solves conflicts and compromise requires dialog.
