Poet, my post to Rambi was not a response to anything she might have said to J.C. He can certainly speak for himself.

Why it's perfectly fine to express their God-given disgust over the behavior and lifestyle of homosexuals and then be upset when it is brought to their attention that this kind of speech is characteristic of homophobia is interesting.

I have my own experiences and thoughts about this issue, and fall way to the left of J.C.'s posted opinions. But I respect anyone's right to voice their opinions here on SI.

I have known many gay men who live a life of true love with a partner, are respected members of their community and are welcomed members of their families. I was the first relative my nephew came to when he realized he was gay and assisted him with telling his brothers and cousins. They all love him dearly and accept his choice wholeheartedly.

In discussions with my gay office mate at work, it is he who speaks with disgust about those gays who flaunt their lifestyle in public areas and make others feel negative about gays as a whole.

There are straight men and women who are an embarrassment to many in society as there are gays. When it's a private, personal choice for either between two consenting adults most people have no objection. When it's a public display from either it receives a public response. And anyone who touches a child, should be locked up.
