I have noticed my stops are not holding as well as they use too. One explanation is the low volume on the exchanges has the specialist and market makers making bigger swings to increase transactions by running logical stops. I don't know what to do about it. Like you said, you need to have stops in this market. I'm thinking about using just after market mental stops on my postion plays to block out some of the intraday shenanigans. This would also makeme more selective. As far as day trades, if I'm not right by 10 or 20 cents I'm out because many times my reward is limited to twice that amount. I want to see at least a 2 to 1 reward/risk ratio.
