I liked it too. However, I still have some hesitations...

"A fraction of the populace embraces them and another fraction heaps opprobrium on them. Most people could care less.

Maybe another fraction somewhere between the poles seeks understanding and reconciliation over the issue itself. I, for example embrace very little, maybe nothing that isn't in the ideal form. I have my attractions and interests, my mundane obligations, and my "aversions" (in the sense of strongly being disinclined). Homosexuality being in the later category. Yet, I enjoy having lunch or engaging in idol chatter with homosexuals with relative comfort and feel put off by the line in the sand.

To me the term "phobia" represents something that is a debilitating disturbance in one's ability to engage in a healthy life style. It offends me to think people who do not "embrace" something because they are disinclined toward it, are subject to opprobrium from others who see it as a "cause." It also offends me that engaging in a dialog to create understanding and reconciliation among decent human beings is not enough. The term "homophobe" has been as politicized as the word "Choice." I find these words (and others like them) to have an intimidation venue; one that is intended to provoke coercive agreement, thus my hesitation.
