As far as I can see, the ruling hinges on whether Ashcroft had authority, under the Act, to forbid the use of controlled narcotics for assisted suicide.

It all hinges on whether or not the Administration should be trying to trump the debate that's going on in the states and the will of the voters of Oregon.
