I'll go with Karen's response. You're kidding yourself. Ashcroft's stand is political ands he's playing to the Religious Right.

BUT: Suppose, instead of using a overdose of narcotics, the doctor put a loaded gun to my temple and pulled the trigger. Is that OK with you? Do you think it would be OK with Ashcroft?

Because if it isn't, then clearly the Controlled Substances Act issue is a red herring.
