Marcos,
Thanks muchos. You were the one who thought of David, no? Now, if we could get into a mainstream print publication....
On a more serious subject, i.e. The Treasure of the Sierra Madres. If you will check it out/rent it my guess is that you will find that the actor (who I for years thought was Francisco Bedoya, but who in fact is named something else) does indeed say "Badges? I ain't got no badges. I don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges." Some double negatives, but one proper (sort of) English sentence. Probably a slip by the director/writer/actor? If I'm wrong, I'll send you some Galina tomato seeds for next year. (Hey, I'll send you some anyway)
By the way, there was (and is, I guess) a DJ in the SF area called Al "Jazzbeau" Collins (back then he was "Big" Al Collins) who had a local TV show and began each show with the clip from the movie.
While I'm being a picky-ass in this moment of triumph, wasn't Winnies expression about the Royal Navy's traditions, "Rum, sodomy, and the cat[of nine tails]" I can't find it in our Oxford Univ. Dictionary of qutoes, but somehow I thought it was cat and not lash.
Here's a quote for Randy, " Dictators ride to and fro upon tigers which they dare not dismount. And the tigers are getting hungry." from While England Slept (1936)
Rolling Stone, huh? Do you know something we don't know? How about Woodward and Bernstein? Mabye Mike Wallace will show up with a camera crew at WSP HQ. "Mr. Turner, Mr. Turner, come back here Mr. Turner, we have some questions we'd like you to answer about options." Ah, delusions of gradeur.
