Joe: I think the whole ClawHammer should be scrapped, and only introduced later as a budget chip. SledgeHammer should be the only part sold in the Hammer line.

My thoughts are pretty much along those lines.

Initially, AMD should provide a 512kB L2 cache, 128bit memory controller version of Hammer, only verified for (capable of?) single processor configurations. Later, a budget version of this with only a 64bit memory controller (and possibly less cache) could be introduced (i.e. a Celeronized Hammer), along with a large-cache (e.g. 1MB L2) version, verified for use in MP systems (i.e. a Xeonized Hammer).

If they really wanted, they could introduce a version of the first Hammer described above, capable of DP (and possibly MP) deployment (i.e. similar to the "not-quite-Xeon-Xeons").
