Your point is good also; SA could induce a short term panic. But they are in a worse position to ride it out than we are. If our economy is "fragile" with 5% unemployment, think what theirs is with 30% unemployment and only two real industries, oil and the Haj...

Imposing a settlement on two parties in the middle of a shooting war means sending in 50,000 American troops, who within a week would be human shields and/or combatants. (Think Beirut 1983) Do you think Bush has any intention of doing that? Me neither. He will will wait for a greater degree of exhaustion to set in, with the hope that some new Palestinian leadership accompanies it, for Arafat has exhausted his credit. Meantime, he will continue to talk of his "vision" of a Palestinian state living peacefully side-by-side with Israel...
