I believe that I proved my point that the deregulation of the S&Ls was a Reagan administration initiative. Reagan presented his plan to the American people and Congress was not about to go against the popular idea that he made it. It was much like the support of everything that Bush called for in the months after 9/11. You were considered unpatriotic to be against the plan.

Never-the-less the idea was Reagan's, and it a was badly thought out, shoot-from-the-hip, flawed idea. The S&Ls were looted mostly by Republicans, very little money was returned, and few were punished. To add insult to injury, many of the properties were bought for a steal by the same people who did the looting when the land prices collapsed.

It is a story never properly told by the "liberal" media. Kind of like they have never told the story of how Bush made a fortune off of the farmers who were forced to sell the land for his Arlington, Texas baseball stadium for the Texas Rangers. They had no problem searching the archives to find a tape of Clinton wearing the tie that Monica had given him months before, the day after it was revealed, however. You've got to dig for the news that is important you know.
