I think this is a mistake on your part, Laz.
I don't see a justifying rule in the thread header, either.
X has dropped the Nice X mode and reverted to Nasty X, but I don't see how that qualifies her for banning on this thread.
Did she threaten anyone? Did she stalk them, harass them? I don't think so. She was merely unpleasant. This is a boxing ring, Laz.
I also think that if all that has to happen, with this precedent, unless you change your mind and invite X back, is that anyone who is feeling dissatisfied with an exchange, or experiencing a fit of pique, can demand a toorabout against anyone else. How annoying.
You can do what you want, you're the moderator, but I'm expressing my opinion that in a boxing ring, some provocation a whole lot worse than talking nastily to someone ought to be required before they're banned, or threatened with banning. This is Jewel's post that uses the word harassing. Jewel was not harassed. Jewel was in a boxing ring, and got his ears boxed. He then set up a series of harassment accusations. After the second, X got notice that she'd be banned if she addressed Jewel.
I think mere nastiness of tone is not "extreme assholery," which is supposed to be the standard. IMO, setting up a situation where you can claim "harassment" and then demanding a toorabout for such posts as X's is pretty close to qualifying though, but hey, that's me.
I think Jewel is a big baby. And has a thin skin. And lost an argument to X and didn't like it. And so used the harassment word and the abuse word to his own ends.
I think I'll go say so now, to him, in fact.
You poor thing, Laz. Really. I'm glad I'm not the thread moderator! |
