... all back together again ... thorns, rough edges and sometimes fragile egos ... you, Steve Lee and I are more alike than we would probably like to admit ... we are serious and successful with what we do, and we do not like being wrong ... and most of all, when our ire is up, we strike out out hard and fast (at least that applies to you and I J.T. - I'm not sure about Steve, as I have not communicated with him that often) ...
... so you see, we deserve each other ...<g>
... and, I have to admit that I really like this thread ... many of the periodic posters are very bright, and contribute a lot ...
... let's make some money ... after a fabulous 1999, a solid 2000 and an adequate 2001, 2002 has been lousy - at this point, my first losing year ... ABMD has really hurt in 2002 ... it was 15.95 on 12/31/01 and closed at 7.83 yesterday ... I am thankful that I sold 10,000 of my 15,000 shares around 20.00 ... and yes, my average cost is around 26.00 ... so I am down a bunch ...
... and you are right J.T., I have held on to my only real loser ever (ABMD) ... although I have no special or insider knowledge, I have tremendous confidence in the management and the exceptional board of directors ... the AbioCor works ... they will do well by the end of 2002 ... as badly as the stock has done since the clinical trials started last July, I have never lost confidence in them ... maybe I am stupid and have a blind spot, but I do not think so ...
... and yes, I still think we will see new equity lows in 2002 (below 9/2001), but I am no longer betting on it by buying September, 2002 S&P puts ... my reasons are the same: lack of significant profit improvement, a double dip in the economy after July 1, and coming weakness in the dollar ...
