Don't make me laugh. The current Power4 is already being outperformed by the most recent 2.4GHz Pentium 4. I think that Itanium 2 should be able to outperform the current Power4, and Madison should be able to outperform the next generation Power4. Granted that Power4 is a dual core processor, but fortunately, IBM is marketing each core as a CPU. Thus, a four processor system is "8-way". An 8-way Itanium 2 will probably get higher performance, and for a lot less cost, you can be sure.
