Don't be cynical. Hydrogen cars and the infrastructure to support them CAN be done, SHOULD be done and probably WILL be done. Of course it's still in the research stages, but with a national and global effort progress will accelerate. What's needed is for our leaders to speak up and make this a priority. Surprisingly Bush and the CEO of GM have recently come out admitting it's the fuel of the future. But neither are spending any money or politicval currency promoting it - yet. We the voter and consumer have to put pressure on them to do this. Europe and Japan are leadinf the way now, but all Big Three automakers are global companies now, in fact the Germans own Chrysler-Jeep so hopefully their Euro divisions will convince the US divisions that this is like the race to the moon, whomever wins gets to harvest the cheese first. Don't be cynical, really. Our empty deserts could be enormous energy-grabbers. Plenty of wind and sun out there (no birds to kill) to create huge clean hydrogen plants instead of nuclear waste dumps.
