I grant that assisted suicide is a state matter, as well. I, however, do not blame Ashcroft asserting the statutory conflict if he thought it existed........

I must be really stupid. It's a state matter. But you don't blame him for making it a federal matter because... Because this perceived statutory conflict jumped up out of nowhere and bit him on the nose and he was compelled to act on it.
