The reason for the intifada, we can argue about, but I maintain it is because Arafat refused the Taba deal, not because of occupation. Israel had promised to leave the territories, if you believe Ross, Clinton, and Barak.

Yep, we'll just have to agree to disagree. My guess is that a fairly serious analysis the reasons for the most recent intifada go back at least to the aftermath of the Oslo agreements (who did and did not keep agreements), but perhaps back to the middle 80s.
