Hydrogen was never said to be a source of energy. It is a carrier for storing energy. Do you ridicule and not use cordless drills and cell phones? The battery in them is not a source of energy either. The big advantage of hydrogen is that it can be easily be gotten from water by transferring the energy of natural gas, or electrical generation from any source, and using it without any pollution at the end use. If the source is wind or solar power, this can be done in an endless cycle forever without ever running out of fuel, and without ever worrying about pollution or global warming. All it takes is the commitment.

Gasoline also takes energy to produce and does not occur naturally. BTW, the latest thinking is that there may be a huge amount of uncombined hydrogen down a few miles.
