Godhra report
NEW DELHI APRIL 26. The Council for International Affairs and Human Rights, which has the Union Minister, Shanta Kumar, as Chairman, today claimed that the Godhra train carnage was an ``act of international terrorism'' with an objective to ``weaken'' Indian defence positions on the border and make it more porous for infiltration of jehadis. The study blamed the local administration and police in Godhra for its ``slow response'' and ``reluctance'' to use force to control the rioting mob that torched the Sabarmati Express. It also said that there was enough evidence against two Congress members of the Godhra municipality. It ``regretted'' that the Indian elite, comprising the political class, the bureaucracy and the intelligentsia, had ``failed to understand the enormity of the situation and nefarious designs of jehadi forces operating from India and abroad.''
JPR's note:
The Govt. and other law enforcement agencies should keep a watch on the religious extremists of all religions, shades, and colors in order that Godhra and the retaliatory massacres can be prevented. By legislation Madrasas should be given a school curriculum equal to others; the pupils should be educated and inculcated that they are Indians first and last; religion has no place outside their place of worship.
Until the Hindus and Muslims feel that they are Indians first and last, there won't be any peace in India.
On a separate note, I understand that many muslim intellectuals of Bengali descent were massacred by the pakistani army towards the end of the Bangla Desh war with pakistan. Here being a muslim didn't make any difference. The Saudis feel they are the true muslims and everybody else is only a muslim by name but good for a head count; they use their money, power, and geographic advantage of Mecca and Medina as a currency to spread wahabism through madrasas and islamic centers all over the world. But before Mohammad there was no Islam. Before the Vedic period there was no Hinduism. Before Christ, there was no Christianity. There were wars then and there are wars now. Man is an animal and he hasn't evolved until he becomes sattvic (goodness, absence of strife, passion and ignorance). Every religion speaks of one God; We are all equal in the eyes of God; He is nameless, formless, and timeless; and yet we all fight with each other in the name of religion. It is the predatory beast in him that rises and notices the difference between man and man and fails to recognize that we are all children of one God.
In Pakistan, Shiites were killed by the Sunnis when the former gathered to mark the death of Hussain the grandson of Mohammad. 15% of Shiites are the minority in Pakistan and live in fear. Muslim religion didn't make any difference. |
