Many many studies of this nature are done with a small N. That's just the way this kind of research goes. Attempts to discredit a well-designed study simply because of a small N (number of participants) tell me that the detractors have little knowledge of social science research.
Which does not invalidate the criticism. It is well known that if you conduct enough studies with small N, you will get some invalid results. That's just statistics. I've had it happen myself.
