Using Intels favored benchmarks I say in P4 2.4s favors over the 2100 Athlon. Taking out the Bapco and bandwidth stuff and it becomes unclear. Then again, Mhz is what matters more.
When it comes to bang for the buck, AMD is the clear winner but Intel is very clever. Who knows what they sell P4s to large OEMs for to keep them faithful.
I always feared the P4 would outscale the Athlon even to the point of winning a lot of benches. I got disillusioned about 10 months ago when the Palomino was clearly delayed and Hammer was "out there somewhere", and Jerry sold stock. AMD just dropped the ball starting back about 1-2001 when they should have gone to the PR rating rather than waiting for Palomino.
