Joan, I have simply quit discussing the financial markets with anyone except my wife and daughter, whom I can inform that they are getting steadily wealthier. All my friends and professional acquaintances, as best I can tell, are just steadily losing money but unable to admit that they are really doing so.

The same thing was true to some extent with precious metals investors for some time after the big boom and bust to 20 years ago. I know because I was one of them. It just seemed reasonable that sooner or later gold and silver would recover at least half of their previous highs.

When the revulsion with stocks comes it will be extreme and long lasting, or so I think.
