Thanks for the clues. I'd heard of interest in tapping Chinese gold deposits by outside parties, and presumed China could be a net exporter of CU with the right development processes. But that is pure speculation at this point.

The low cost power mention sorta reminds me of the Three Rivers Gorge Dam project currently underway.

Link the potential effect of NatGas pricing and cost of energy to your Trinidad thoughts. When gas prices picked up in North America, things like Ammonia feedstock production shut down to some extent.

At that time, it occurred to me that it would make sense to produce such energy intensive products near the source _or in low energy costs areas of the world_ then shipping the intermediate products rather than raw gas.

Was a time this might have been called rationalization of production, under the guise of global free trade and comparative advantage and so forth.

Trinidad could make intermediate products onshore, shipping across the small bit of water to the US, rather than go through those nasty gas to liquid conversions and inverse.

Of course, it's likely the US will need raw gas too, assuming methane hydrates aren't tapped near term.

Some random pixelated thoughts on a quite eve, as I review the Red and Green uniforms in anticipation of a Monday to come.
