Cellular News

The UK's largest cellphone retailer, The Carphone Warehouse which last week said it was suspending the sale of the Nokia 8210 after it said the handset had suffered repeated faults, has now said that it is to restart selling the handset.

In a short statement, the company said:

"The Carphone Warehouse has resumed selling Nokia 8210s with effect from Saturday 20th April 2002. The recent issue with the product has now been resolved."

The company still has not said what the problem was and the suspension of sales appears to have lasted just one day. Either the actions last week were a bluff by the Carphone Warehouse to force Nokia's hand in resolving the problems, or there were outstanding problems, and the publicity generated encouraged Nokia to resolve the issue rapidly. We understand that the handset is no longer being made anyway, having come to the end of its life cycle. <<
