The article in Barron's is another example of the negative tone that has developed during the last several days. Once the brooding about bad times begin, it seems to create a life of its own.

While Intel's plan for budgeting capital equipment expenditures is obviously extremely important, many other factors, some known and some unknown at the moment, will also be very important to the scenario that plays out as the coming months unfold.

There is a lot of ongoing discussion in the various media about the strength and speed of the upcoming recovery. The data that we have been gathering and the charts you have made show that this present recovery is slower so far than the previous 2 recoveries starting in 96 and 98, but there is recovery underway. Certainly the increase in bookings will continue for awhile into the future, and may become more robust as the year continues to unfold.

Being an optimist myself, I would like to see a little more of that persuasion seeping into the "market" this coming week.<gg> The last 7 market days have been a real downer and we need a respite.
