I hate to have to tell you this, but most nations already have the equivalent of "transit camps" for illegal aliens. The US certainly does. The Immigration and Naturalization Service holds you in a sort of jail until you exhaust your legal remedies. Then they deport you.

In this sense Le Pen, who will lose the election in the greatest landslide in French history, isn't much of a fascist.

It's not that I'm getting picky in my old age. It's just that I don't think it's useful to blow the current situation out of proportion. While the Palestinian / Israeli fracas is on the rise, overall the status of the world is more peaceful now than it was at pretty much any time prior.

Just a few years ago the two most powerful countries were threatening each other with nuclear weapons. A half century ago most of the world was ruled by ruthless dictators. A century ago, most of Europe was governed on the principle that the eldest son of the King would be the next King. Things were only barely better in the Lights of the World, the US and UK. England ruled huge tracts of the world, leaving the inhabitants to second class citizenship enforced by threat of violence. America didn't let women or most blacks vote.

We truly have made outstanding strides towards peace and freedom in the last century. This has been made not just in the first world, but throughout most of the world.
