Thanks to everyone who supplied links.

It's kind of heart breaking to read the historical stuff on this industry and see the unit growth, knowing that the profitability has been so miserable. Did I say profits? This industry may rival the airlines for long term aggregate "unprofitability."

Of course, the bullish part of me still thinks that this industry can change its stars and become a profitable one. Competitive landscapes do change and the continued elimination of players would raise the chances of this happening.
