Thornley was responding to a question similar to yours. Thornley did not elaborate but said that it could be due to volume discounts. I think that the volume discount thresholds are high and very few vendors will qualify. It may not be the same for IX chips.

If you listen to IJ's opening remarks in th last CC he is clearly saying that chip ASP's are rising.
