Somewhat OT: Rts, Good news in this article, but the reason I am responding is the following sentence in the release:

<<Aylesworth said Texas Instruments sees good potential in the market for broadband Internet communications, saying that only 15 percent of U.S. homes have high-speed access now.>>

I have been trying for over 2 years to obtain a broadband connection at my home and have been totally frustrated. I live close to the city in a relatively large(6000 homes development), but no one in the development, including me, has been able to get a broadband connection. Facilities for DSL have been too far away and the cable company does not offer service. I have been living with a dial up connection and cursing the situation daily.

Finally, yesterday I found out, the local phone company has finished their upgrade to enable DSL connections in our subdivision. I called them within the hour to sign up. I am getting the necessary hardware and DSL connection on 7 May and should be "cruising with a broadband interconnect" shortly thereafter.

The reason I bring this situation up is that I think there are many more people like me who are frustrated at not having the facilities available to sign up for broad band interconnect. All I read are negative articles that "broadband internet is not selling". My comment is: first you have to offer the service to the market that will use it before making those kind of statements.

Anyway, I am now "one happy camper" and looking forward to next week.
