I'm not saying it is the whole story, but the impression I get is that the religiously run Arab states are extremely non-tolerent of other religions. That seems like state sponsored racism to me.

I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me. I know that Egypt and Turkey have a more enlightened view but they have some Christians. Jordan claims to be more enlightened. After years of civil war, Lebanon should be. I would say most of the remaining Arab countries are not very tolerant.

Does Israel have religious freedom?

Yes, they do.

Do they have policies that do not even recognize other country's rights to exist?

No, they don't. There is no question that Israel is the most enlightened of the countries in the Middle East and most like us. I think that's why they are our ally.

Saudi Arabia apparantly does if they are floating a plan to "recognize" Israel if they give back land they captured when they were attacked. And what world body recently labeled Israel a racist country? Wasn't that some U.N. function that so irritated the U.S. (prompting a boycott I believe). Calling someone a racist who is not a racist IS racist (or something just as bad) imo.

I think some attempt has been made to peg Israel as racist because they have attacked the Palestinians in the West Bank and because the Israeli Arabs do not share all the rights of the Israeli Jews. However, I think its a stretch to call Israel racist even though I suspect many Israelis hate the Palestinians for the suicide bombings.....understandably.

"Compromises were offered to appease them but in the end the state was created over their objections"

So the argument needs to go back to whether Israel ever has had a right to exist. If they do, then your point is mute. Till this day most of the Arab nations don't recognize them.

I think its way too late to decide whether Israel should exist or not. Israel/the Zionists are not at fault; they did what they could to get their own country and they clearly were better at it than the Palestinians.

If I am angry at anyone, its Britain for so botching her Mandate of that region. I sure Britain has reasons but I think in the final analysis, it was not done well. Its also doesn't appear that they gave much thought to the indigenous Palestinians. While they promised them a state, it appears to be as an afterthought since they made that promise to the Palestinians only after they promised one to the Zionists who had arrived just 40 years earlier.

"I think its been argued successivefully that when people are forced out due to war that their propety rights remain intact"

Were they forced out, or did they leave voluntarily? Your last post strengthened my beleif that they left so others could crush Israel. If they were forced out that is quite a bit different. Which one is it?

I think some fled the war; others because they believed the Arabs would push the Zionists out. I see your point but I am not sure that it makes a big difference when it comes to repatriations.
