SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 2002-- Network Appliance, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions, announced today that Edward Jones, one of the nation's largest financial-services firms, has standardized its global file services infrastructure on Network Appliance(TM) solutions.

To maximize its business continuance and data center availability operations, Edward Jones deployed multiple enterprise-class F840 filers enhanced with NetApp® SnapMirror® software for managing database applications data, replication, backup, and storage of its home directories.

The company also will utilize NetApp data management software to simplify the management of critical information shared between remote facilities, including PeopleSoft application data, which requires 24x7 data access among the company's St. Louis and Tempe, Ariz. remote offices.

The NetApp DataFabric(TM) Manager software provides ease of network management, enabling IT staff to manage the systems remotely, thereby offering greater reductions in costs and providing heightened data security for home offices.

After Edward Jones considered several competitive offerings for this deployment, and completed lengthy technical evaluations, Network Appliance was chosen for its superior quality of service and system availability, flexible support of Windows NT® and UNIX® environments, ease of scalability, speed of implementation, and greatly reduced operational costs.

"Network Appliance is focused on the future, looking at how companies maximize the value of information assets in an organization, collaborating, and sharing information around the globe," said Rich Malone, chief information officer of Edward Jones.

"It is a great compliment to Network Appliance to have Edward Jones put its confidence in NetApp products and our customer support programs," said Ray Villeneuve, vice president of marketing at Network Appliance. "The security and complexity in storing and delivering financial data and applications is a critical component in providing the storage infrastructure to Edward Jones. As the firm continues to expand globally, Network Appliance will seamlessly and securely scale with it, giving Edward Jones the tools necessary to manage the network easily, ultimately saving significant IT costs and time."
