I have a cable modem only because the company ATT Broadband bought out had already wired the town. I would think that ATT could see it is a good business for them as they have an installed base to study. I tell friends about the service, they think about it for a month and then sign up and all are naturally highly pleased at the difference. It makes webbing a different experience altogether. Many things one does not do on the web with a 56k connection become a piece of cake with broadband. I still think home entertainment - and look at the money people spend on it already - will become PC centric. ATT does not push phone services - they could surely steal some from our RBOC if they tried - and does not push video on demand. I would wire everyone for free and then give six months away. Then I would put the local Blockbuster out of business - right now there are traffic jams there every day..
