David, "Qualcomm's subsequent patents build off of the earlier patents in a way that has helped the company secure the entire CDMA system" - that's my understanding also and the only reason I invested in QCOM years ago (for the WCDMA IPR). Now, one aspect that has always puzzled me: if NOK need, say, just a few of the patents, while another co may need all of them - how can you charge the same and still offer them at a fair and equal basis, or whatever the rule is? Neither have I heard a good explanation to why NOK paid "the same as everyone else" but also threw in its GSM/GPRS and whatnot IPR portfolio for good measure. Unnecessary generosity, it seems... I don't think we really know enough about this. Lars
