i agree with you on the pullbacks.

when it feels like a stock or sector is in a long term bull move, i find it hard to judge normal pullbacks of more than 10%. if one sells and waits for the 10% (or fill-in-the-blank %) and it does not come down that much, it is a struggle to get back in without some chasing. plus i may not repurchase as many shares. so for my gold miners right now i am only selling about 10% of my holdings at price points i consider short term peaks, and i buy them back fairly quickly (maybe too quickly). of course it is always debatable how long a bullish trend will last.

i have included a link to fred's (i wanted to stay away from a gold chart). it's been in a long term up move, and selling along the way is good but optimizing getting back in before the train leaves on each pullback takes a lot of chances along the way.
