>> but the blessing of freedom confers advantage to that country that truly practices economic freedom. Freedom works! <<

now why don't you (or anyone else) tell me how free trade has led to more freedom. when our country used tariffs to fund the government for nearly a century and a half, the size and scope of the federal government was relatively small. since free trade has been pursued in the last half of the 20th century the size and scope of the federal government has exploded!

--free trade leads to expanding government
--free trade leads to global governance
--free trade leads to a loss of sovereignty
--free trade leads to open borders and mass immigration
--free trade leads to a loss of patriotism in favor of globalism, interventionism, and internationalism

--free trade leads to socialism.

"Trade socialism must be defeated root and branch even when it is called free trade."--Alan Keyes

"...the Free Trade system works destructively. It breaks up old nationalities and carries antagonism of proletariat and bourgeoisie to the uttermost point…the Free trade system hastens the Social Revolution. In this revolutionary sense alone...I am in favor of Free Trade." --Karl Marx

proof that marx was right? shortly after harry truman signed GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs & Trade), in 1949 the top 1% of americans held 21% of the wealth. today after a half century of free trade the top 1% holds more than 40% of the wealth and the top 10% hold nearly three quarters of the wealth.

and last but not least...

"In this country pernicious indulgence in the doctrine of free-trade seems inevitably to produce fatty degeneration of the moral fibre.” --Theodore Roosevelt, 1895
