I just returned from a gathering with the local Catholic Pastor here where he explained what is happening in terms of the pedophilia in the church. It was highly informative and painfully frank.......the priest was candid and his usual honest self. He was a true inspiration for the other parisheners as he spoke quite candidly about the church hierarchy and it's behavior in these matters. The priest spent alot of time explaining that to rid the church of homosexual priests would not solve the problem because pedophilia is a disease of heterosexuals and homosexuals alike. Celibate homosexual priests exist in the church and are responsible to their vows. The priest's sexual orientation doesn't have anything to do with the disease of pedophilia which tends to capitalize on victims who are available for the sake of convenience. He made bold statements about certain Cardinals who should resign and thought that the church will be forced to evolve in a positive way as a result of this scandal. IT was the boldest, most open talk I have ever heard from a priest. This parish is lucky to have such a remarkable man. Pat
