Dear Scumbria: Rightly or wrongly I believe the Vietnamese War severely effected the ability of our Government to posture in a War mood. A very large segment of the US population, at least up to 9/11 really never wanted to go overseas again unless American interests were DIRECTLY effected. A few hostages here and there was not enough to change the American mentality, and many nations IMHO took advantage of it. Now that we have had a "SNEAK ATTACK" on our own soil, perhaps that mentality has now changed. Have to wait and see if it will last long enough to make a real difference in the World. I agree if the troublemakers of the World are willing to believe that we are PISSED OFF enough to attack anyone, anywhere for any reason I suspect they would crawl back under their rocks and wait us out.
