=DJ H-P Plans To Close Compaq Acquisition By May 7 >HWP CPQ NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Hewlett-Packard Co. (HWP) is still planning to close its acquisition of Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ) by May 7, the company said Wednesday. The legal closing of the merger is expected to occur at some point before the "new company" is launched May 7, H-P spokeswoman Rebecca Robboy said. The combined entity will keep the H-P name. H-P also is awaiting formal certification of the votes of its shareholders, who approved the Compaq merger by a slim margin in March. The certification is expected within days.
