Fleet Offers Customers Free Museum Admittance in May
Fleet Museums On Us!-R- Program Opens Doors to 44 Cultural Institutions in Northeast
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 2002--FleetBoston Financial is making visiting museums, zoos, and other cultural institutions easier by waiving general admittance fees for Fleet customers as part of the Fleet Museums On Us! program.
Throughout the month of May, Fleet customers will be able to visit any of the participating cultural institutions - located in Fleet's eight-state footprint - for free by simply showing their Fleet ATM, debit, or credit card.
The Fleet Museums On Us! program, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, has helped expose customers to new forms of art and culture, attracting nearly 100,000 people to cultural institutions throughout the Northeast. This year promises to be better than ever with 44 of the Northeast's finest cultural institutions participating in the program, including museums, zoos, planetariums, science centers, and aquariums. Customers will have free access to 13 cultural institutions in Massachusetts, 12 in New York, six in Connecticut, four in New Jersey, three in Pennsylvania, and two in Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. (See attached list.)
"Fleet is committed to supporting the arts, and we believe that our partnership with cultural institutions in our footprint will enrich the lives of those who live in these communities," said Anne Finucane, executive vice president and director of Corporate Marketing and Communications for FleetBoston Financial. "This becomes even more important as families and museums feel the pressure of a slowing economy. We're pleased to help ease that pressure by working closely with our participating institutions to create opportunities for families to take advantage of the excellent cultural facilities available in the Northeast."
"Fleet's unique approach to bringing the arts to its customers, who may not be regular museum-goers, is valuable for everyone involved," said Malcolm Rogers, Ann and Graham Gund Director of the Museum of Fine Arts, which has participated in the Fleet Museums On Us! program since its inception. "Customers have the opportunity to experience the arts for free, and the participating cultural institutions gain from Fleet's philanthropic support."
Participating institutions benefit from added exposure through Fleet's marketing campaign at a time when many cultural institutions are facing cutbacks in state and federal support, while the bank's customers receive the opportunity to view a wide variety of cultural and art exhibits free of charge - an added value from Fleet.
Fleet has committed more than $2 million in philanthropic and marketing support for the Museums On Us! program, including marketing support from Visa®. To promote the program, Fleet has created banners, posters and a mass-market advertising campaign that will appear throughout the states in which Fleet operates in the Northeast during the month-long event.
