GT -- not really. just means that there is TONS of stuff coming off patent with no real "killer apps" coming up behind. all the talk about too-expensive drugs is going to be ramping down by next year as the generics take a gigantic chunk out of the hide of big pharma.

people had been hoping that some of the DNA mapping would be starting to provide something tangible by now in terms of NCEs/biologicals getting into the clinic. but so far that hasn't happened. so the earnings bases of all of these drug companies are going to be gutted in the next 3 years. they are wasting assets at this point, unless those $billions they direct at R&D every year starts coming up with something interesting.
