HP sees Compaq deal closing tomorrow, to launch 'new' HP next Tuesday
PALO ALTO, CA, May 01, 2002 (AFX-UK via COMTEX) -- Hewlett-Packard Co said independent inspectors certified that its shareholders approved its proposed merger with Compaq Computer Corp, adding it expects the deal to close tomorrow.
HP will launch the "new" HP combined with Compaq next week Tuesday.
According to the certification, there were 838,401,376 shares voted in favour of the deal during its March 19 EGM, compared to 739,094,105 shares which voted against the merger.
Abstaining shares numbered 13,950,651.
