Derek, always a pleasure.... Conservatives do not walk around in powdered wigs and use quill pens. Merely preserving incidental customs and opinions is not the point. The point is to identify what is durable in our society, its institutions and values, and to rely upon our ability to draw from what is best and lasting to meet the challenges of today. Conservatism is not a droning argument from authority, but a continued attempt to profit from the accumulated experience and reflection of those who preceded us, particularly those who played a large role in shaping the West in general, and the United States in particular.......
