Fred,
Sharon apparently has a peace plan now too and there is talk about giving up the settlements that the new security arrangement(fences, ditches, etc) cant protect. Take a teaspoon of saudi and add a pinch of barak and a hunk of sharon and who knows. One thing i would like the Israelis to do is to acknowledge in some way the bravery of the palestinian fighters(as opposed to bombers) who they clashed with. The fact that some Pal leaders stopped pressing the claim that the 54 killed in Jenin was somehow a massacre also help. Lets call a spade a spade. The Israelis crushed the bombers but also put down an insurrection. The non-bomber portion of that insurrection must be recognized as potential negotiating partners for Israel. The more I read about what deLay and armey are calling for, the more sickened i get. This type of thinking can only delay peace and make sure the armeys will be at it again.
Regarding anti-semitism see George Wills column today(NYPost). Its chilling. mike
